Overview

Located on Jl. Hasanuddin No.1 in the heart of Medan, Koki Sunda is a beacon of authentic Sundanese cuisine. The restaurant captures the essence of Indonesian culinary tradition through a thoughtfully curated menu that bridges freshness and comfort with every bite.

The highlight of Koki Sunda’s offerings is its adherence to classic Sundanese flavors, embodied in signature dishes like Nasi Liwet served on fragrant banana leaves, Sayur Asem, and Kangkung Belacan. These dishes exemplify the brand’s commitment to preserving regional tastes while presenting them with a modern touch. The Gurami Bakar Ciamis and Gurame Goreng stand out as perfect representations of Indonesian seafood mastery—balanced spices, tender fish, and smokey undertones.

Koki Sunda’s environment enhances the dining experience significantly. The space is thoughtfully designed to accommodate both intimate solo lunches and larger group celebrations. Guests can choose between cozy indoor seating, open-air arrangements, or even reserve a VIP room for special occasions. This versatility makes it a preferred destination for families, friends, and professionals who crave a calm yet inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is noted for maintaining a clean and comfortable setting, encouraging lingering and quality conversation.

One distinctive feature appreciated by guests is the complimentary Lalapan plate—fresh, locally sourced vegetables served with chili and sambal, adding texture and freshness that complements the robust main dishes. The free flow of Indonesian fruit salad (rujak) further enhances the meal, providing a refreshing contrast to the savory flavors.

For those on the go or seeking a taste of Koki Sunda at home, the nasi bungkus option offers a packed meal combining chicken or fish with an exciting mix of vegetables, chili peanuts, and tofu. This takeaway approach respects the traditional food culture and meets modern convenience needs without compromising quality.

Accessibility is straightforward, with parking available at the front and rear of the building, making it hassle-free for diners. The service aligns well with the overall ambiance—attentive yet unobtrusive, allowing guests to savor each course in peace.

Koki Sunda appeals primarily to those who appreciate genuine Indonesian cuisine paired with a relaxed dining environment. Whether you seek a quiet moment alone or a festive gathering spot, this restaurant caters warmly to diverse dining intentions without losing sight of its Sundanese roots.

Koki Sunda offers Indonesian style of culinary. From appetizer, main courses, and dishes with Indonesian taste of culinary, they have it here. From chicken, seafood, vegetables, soup, set meal with rice, dessets, coffee, tea to snacks, they have it here. The dining environment was clean yet comfortable. They have indoor and outdoor seats. There are VIP rooms as well for group dining. Food portion was ok for around 4-5 persons sharing. They also serve free flow Indonesian fruit salad (rujak) and local vegetable salad (lalapan). They also offer nasi bungkus (wrapped rice with mix dishes) that was deliciously tasted. Each pack comes with mix of vegetables: cucumber and curry jackfruit, chilli stir fried peanut and anchovy, tofu/soya bean cake as well as the choice of meat: chicken/fish. Portion was quite big. Pricing was standard. The nasi bungkus can be purchased via online food delivery app.

I like their food and the price is reasonable. Check the last page of the menu where you'll find a set of rice, chicken and vegetables. Good for one pax. If you have a big group, best to order meat and vegetables individually unless you don't like to share. Parking is easy to find, either front of the entrance or back of koki Sunda building. Yes you still need to pay parking fees, usually it's RP 3k-5k

Great spot to kick back, enjoy a good meal, and spend time with family. Prices are right in the middle—not too cheap, not too pricey. Service was on point, and the portions? Huge. A regular order is already a lot, so don’t go overboard just because you're starving… unless you wanna struggle to move after.
